8 lbs of heroin seized
The Cincinnati/N.Kentucky Airport Task Force seized
approximately 8 pounds of heroin from a male Mexican, flying on a round trip, cash ticket,
purchased from a Mexican travel agency. They conducted an encounter and received a consent
to search his one piece of checked luggage. They identified a medium size, soft sided
suitcase that emitted a strong odor of glue - NO DRUG ODOR. Upon checking the contents,
they noticed an audio cassette carrying case. The case was heavier than others and further
examination of the case disclosed false bottoms affixed to the plastic trays and painted
to match the trays. They separated one of the trays and recovered heroin, wrapped in
clear plastic. An arrest of the subject was made. He advised he was transporting cocaine.
Further examination of his suitcase was conducted, revealing an empty suitcase, weighing
over 15 pounds. They checked the frame of the suitcase, discovering it was constructed of
fiberglass and recovered additional clear plastic packages of heroin. The clear plastic
packages were lined with carbon paper. It's unknown if the carbon paper was utilized to
reduce the heroin odor or if it was used to match the coloring of the suitcase. A
total of 7 packages of heroin were recovered. If you have any questions, please call The
Cincinnati/North Kentucky Airport Task Force (606) 767-3123. >>more photos |
