This is a 40 hour clandestine lab certification course. This course not only certifies those as clan lab technicians, but it also certifies them as site safety and incident commanders for clandestine lab sites. This course is for both police and fire personnel. This course teaches labs from both a police and fire standpoint which results in the safest best practices for not only processing labs; but also ensuring successful prosecution. This class clearly defines the roles of police and fire as they work together to safely process these unique situations as clan lab sites are both a crime scene and hazard materials site. CLEE hours will be available for course
- Identifying clandestine methamphetamine and conversion laboratories
- Crime scene / hazardous material site
- One pot A.K.A. “shake & bake”, red phosphorus A.K.A. “red P”, anhydrous ammonia A.K.A. “anny” methods
- Butane Honey Oil (BHO) A.K.A. wax / butter labs
- Hazards and risks associated with each different phase of the lab processes to include components and chemicals commonly used in the varying methods of manufacturing meth
- Understanding the health hazards and environmental risk that is unique to meth and conversion labs for increased officer safety
- Processing the scene
- Site safety & Incident command
- PPE to include level A
- Physical characteristics of hazard materials commonly used in clan labs
- Air monitoring
- Identifying chemicals / sampling
- Decontamination
- Understanding the effects of methamphetamine on the user and how they perceive law enforcement response.
- Using pseudoephedrine sale databases for identifying persons associated with meth cooks
Personnel attending this course must have a completed physical form to include pulmonary functions test (PFT) in order to attend this course for compliance with OSHA standards for use of SCBA within the last year
